Resumen

A continuación se presentará el primero de una dupla de artículos dirigida a explorar la fundamentación del dominio global ejercido por Los Estados Unidos de América en las últimas décadas y las condiciones que posibilitan su plenitud y su crisis en la actualidad. El primer artículo desarrolla un modelo típico ideal de lo que se considera el modo de vida americano. Tal modo de vida ocurre en la confluencia entre el hombre moderno y la inercia de las creencias puritanas de los colonizadores de Nueva Inglaterra. Seguidamente, se muestra cómo el modo de vida americano encuentra sentido en el llamado Destino Manifiesto que es la narrativa según la cual la nación americana tiene el deber de iluminar al mundo con las luces del Progreso. El segundo artículo de esta dupla procederá a mostrar la plenitud y con ello las condiciones de posibilidad para la crisis del mando americano en el tiempo de la llamada globalización.

Abstract

This is the first of a duple of articles whose goal is enquiring into the founding of the global domination of The United States of America in the last decades. This enquiring wants to unveil the conditions that makes possible the plenum of such kind of domination as well as its crisis nowadays. In the first article an ideal typic model about the american way of life is developed. Such a way of life occurs in the concurrence of the modern man with the still living puritan beliefs coming from the New England settlers. Following that, it is shown how the american way of life strengths its sense with the narrative of the Manifest Destiny. This narrative tells how the american nation has the duty of iluminating the world with the lights of Progress. The second of these two articles is driven to show the plenum and, at the same time, the conditions which makes possible the crisis of the American Rule at the time of the so called globalization.

Resumen

A continuación se presentará el segundo de una dupla de artículos dirigida a explorar la fundamentación del dominio global ejercido por Los Estados Unidos de América en las últimas décadas. El primer artículo mostró el crisol de la nación americana y el advenimiento del destino manifiesto como narrativa que la impulsaba a iluminar al mundo con las luces del modo de vida americano entendido éste como el Progreso. En este segundo artículo se plantea la hipótesis de entender la globalización como la mundialización del modo de vida americano, es decir, como la mundialización y plenitud del Destino Manifiesto. Para ello se construye una caracterización de la globalización la cual es evaluada a la luz del modelo típico ideal del Destino Manifiesto elaborado en el primer artículo. Tal evaluación mostrará cómo la aparente consumación del Destino Manifiesto hace referencias caricaturizadas a nociones fundamentales de la narrativa original. A partir de allí se exploran las condiciones de posibilidad para que en la consumación del Destino Manifiesto aparezca la crisis del mando americano. Finalmente se exploran dos discursos de dos de las últimas Secretarias de Estado de los EE.UU., Madeleine Albright y Condoleezza Rice, los cuales muestran dos vertientes distintas posibilitadas a partir de la crisis anteriormente referida.

Abstract

In the following, the second of a duple of articles driven to questioning the founding of the global domination of The United States of America during the last decades is presented. The first article showed the crucible on the american nation in the bringing forth of the narrative of the Manifest Destiny. According to this narrative the american nation has the duty of illuminating the world with the lights of the american way of life understanding it as the Progress itself. This second article advances the hypothesis about understanding the globalization as the worldwide spreading of the american way of life. Therefore, a caracterization of globalization is presented which is evaluated at the lights of the ideal typic model of the Manifest Destiny. This evaluation will show how the apparent consummation of the Manifest Destiny makes cartoony references to the fundamental notions of the original narrative. Hence an exploration on the conditions that makes possible that in the consummation of the Manifest Destiny blossoms the crisis of the American Rule. Finally, two speeches coming from two of the most recent Secretaries of the State of The USA, Madeleine Albright and Codoleezza Rice, are explored in order to show two different and contrasting branches rooted in the aforementioned crisis.
